Abstract: Thomas Hobbes is held to be a radical critic of Aristotelian
anthropology and social and political theory. This paper aims to refute this
claim. Though there are some significant differences between AristotleÕs and
HobbesÕ point of view, it is not true that Hobbes established a new paradigm of
political thought.
