Eimerts und Stockhausens aus dem Jahre 1952*

As a sequel to the documentation of Stockhausen’s hitherto unpublished letters to Herbert Eimert concerning his electronic mass (Helmut Kirchmeyer, AfMw 66/3), this article discloses the recent discovery of Eimert’s replies to Stockhausen. In another newly-documented letter from Stockhausen to Eimert, Stockhausen refers to the rivalry between the two music divisions, in Hamburg and Cologne within the Northwest German Radio. The author describes the dispute over the new interval signal in Hamburg that had been prescribed by Cologne, and Eimert’s intervention in the debate through an anonymous newspaper article.
