interest in globalization in recent historical sciences
Recent methodological debates in the historical sciences have underlined the linkages between the cultural and spatial turn in the humanities and the new interest in the history of globalization. The article describes firstly the effects of these turns within the discipline over the last two or three decades, and secondly emphasizes the importance of factors external to the discipline for the remarkable reorientation in international historiography in the search for new interpretations within the framework of a recently growing field of global history.
