The paper mainly explores
some of LeibnizÕs activities in the spring of 1701, related to his goal of
being nominated by the Emperor as imperial counsellor into the Reichshofrat.
Two letters previously not attributed to Leibniz lead to the conclusion that,
in order to further his aims, he secretly undertook a trip to Vienna which up
to now had remained unknown.
