Thomas Haye: Die Astronomie des Hyginus als
Objekt hochmittelalterlicher Lehrdichtung
During the middle ages, the astronomical manual ascribed to
the Roman mythographer Hyginus, served as a central reference book. The
manuscript London, BL, MS Add. 23892, contains a poem in which a
thirteenth-century anonymous author attempts to transform HyginusÕ
sophisticated prose writing into the popular form of a didactic poem. This
paper presents a critical edition of the text, an introduction, and a short
commentary.
