Volker Stamm: Zur Bedeutung der
Grundrente fŸr die landesfŸrstlichen Einnahmen und bŠuerlichen Abgaben in der
Grafschaft Tirol (13./14. Jahrhundert)
The
article contributes to the on-going discussion on the importance of revenues
based on the possession of land compared with those resulting from the control
over men, such as taxes, in the later Middle Ages. In the case of Tyrol, a
region with a particularly dense tradition of sources rich of quantitative
data, it demonstrates the persistent weight of land rents, which holds both for
the budgets of the territorial ruler, Meinhard II., and of the peasants, the
latter being subject to MeinhardÕs landlordship and his territorial rule. It is
underlined that the correct transformation of rent in kind into monetary values
is critical to the assessment of the different components of income and dues.
