Die sonderbare Arbeitsvermittlung fŸr
NS-ParteigŠnger nach 1933
While millions of unemployed people vainly hoped for a stable job in the
years after 1933, the followers of the Nazi regime received preferential
treatment. The privileged were ÒprovenÓ members of the Nazi party,
stormtroopers, SS and Stahlhelm men. Not only employment offices were involved
in the placement of ʻold campaignersʼ, but also party ad hoc
agencies, which forced companies into employments. The cooperation between the
political institutions and the public employment service was chaotic. For the
often convicted ʻold campaignersʼ criminal records were brightened
and jobs in public authorities were created. However, not only ʻold
campaignersʼ had to be preferred in the placement service of the
employment offices. The service also included unemployed veterans of World War
I and fathers of many children, which led to a competition between these
privileged groups. Here, the NS-partisans studiously ignored the propaganda
slogan, which claimed Òcommon good before self-interestÓ.
