Andrzej M. Kaniowski


About

Andrzej Kaniowski is a professor at the University of Łódź and, from 2000 to 2025, served as the head of the Department of Ethics at its Institute of Philosophy. His research is centered on critical social theory, Kant's practical philosophy, bioethics, and medical ethics.

Kaniowski was a Humboldt Foundation fellow from 1990 to 1991 and a visiting professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2019 to 2020. He has engaged in collaborative efforts within the Interdisciplinary Working Group for Medical Ethics in Poland and Germany with Professor Jan C. Joerden (European University Viadrina) and Professor Florian Steger (Institute for the History, Theory, and Ethics in Medicine at the University of Ulm).

Kaniowski participated in a number of foreign and international projects, including the 2004–2006 Living with Noise Project (European Academy of Technology and Innovation Assessment, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Germany).
