General notes

  • Please structure your manuscript with up to two levels of headings.
  • Restrict references to sources and literature and avoid digressions in your footnotes.
  • For text mark-ups, please primarily use italics.
  • Titles of works quoted in the text (literature, pieces of music, films) are usually italicised and are without inverted commas:
Goethe’s Faust; Plato’s Republic; Mozart’s Zauberfloete; Coppola’s The Godfather
  • These »Quotation marks« can be used to relativise and problematise terms or to create distance.
  • Please mark longer quotations by indenting them as a separate text block.

Contribution header

  • In addition to the original title, provide an english translation of the main heading and the subheading (unless they are already in English).
  • An abstract and keywords in English as well as in the original language are obligatory for the Jahrbuch fuer Kommunikationsgeschichte.

Abbreviated references

  • In the Jahrbuch fuer Kommunikationsgeschichte a bibliography is not provided at the end of an article. References are always provided in the footnotes.
  • Full bibliographic reference for the first citation; for repeated citations in the same contribution, abbreviated form with short title.
  • If there are several authors, their names will be separated by a slash (/).
  • The edition appears between the subtitle and the place of publication. If it is the first edition, this information is omitted.
  • Please avoid using „f.“ or „ff.“ for page ranges. Instead, provide the exact page range:
p. 15–17 or p.16f.
not: 15ff.
  • Directly after the short title, please refer in brackets to the note where the detailed bibliographic information is given.
  • The abbreviated reference is given as follows: Surname (year) page numbers (cf. n. X):
Requate (1995) p. 13 (cf. n. 16).
