Title translation, abstract and keywords
- In addition to the original title, provide an english translation of the main title in bold and in a new line (unless they are already in English). If there is a subtitle, it is also translated into English.
- Contributions in the Journal of Old Turkic Studies have an abstract and keywords in English. There are no abstracts or keywords in the original language.
Abbreviated references
- In the text body, abbreviated references are used according to the ‘author-year’ scheme.
- The reference should be given in round brackets, stating the surname, year of publication and page number(s). Please give the specific page numbers and avoid using ‘p.’ or ‘pp.’ to indicate pages.
- Simple reference: (Surname Year: Page)

- Integrated into the sentence:

- Two authors:

Detailed references
- The bibliography should only include works cited in the text and should be arranged alphabetically by author's surname. All information must be complete and formatted consistently.
- If several works by the same author are published in the same year, they are distinguished by lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.). This designation must be used consistently in both the bibliography and the abbreviated references in the text body.

Chinese and Japanese sources
- Titles of works in Chinese or Japanese are given in their original characters.
- The English translation of the title follows immediately after the original title in square brackets. A transcription (e.g. Pinyin or Hepburn) is not required. All other bibliographic information (journal title, volume, year, page numbers, etc.) follows the journal's general citation scheme.
