Bibliothek der lateinischen Literatur der Spaetantike

Literary texts of Latin late antiquity constitute a diverse sphere of communication, extending from the west of the European continent across North Africa to the Greek east. The Bibliothek der lateinischen Literatur der Spaetantike gathers texts written between the third and seventh century AD. The dual language editions containing annotations and an introduction offer new insight into the diversity and richness in the form and thought of this period of literary creativity.

The Bibliothek brings to light the answers that authors gave to the social, political, religious and intellectual challenges of the time, and demonstrates the importance of literary study in its own right – thus ensuring that the texts are not only read in relation to their suitability as historical sources or as pure documentation.
