Contribution header
- The main title is in bold, the subtitle is in regular font on a new line. There is no English translation of the main title and subtitle.
- Contributions in Orbis Terrarum have an abstract and keywords in English. There are no abstracts and keywords in the original language.
Citation styles
- You can work with or without a bibliography.
- If you do not use a bibliography, please provide complete bibliographic details the first time a title is mentioned, and use short citations with short titles from the second mention onwards.
- In the bibliography method, the bibliography with detailed references is placed at the end of each article, with only the short title being mentioned in the footnotes.
- Please use italics for Latin terms and translations, but not for Latin names of persons and places:

M. Tullius Cicero, Prusias ad Hypium
- The titles of works and the names of ships and military units are also written in italics:

- Please use small caps for words that appear in CAPITAL LETTERS in these guidelines.
Short references
- Please use SMALL CAPS for the name of authors.
- Multiple persons are seperated by a solidus:
ULF/ROLLINGER, 72.
- Multiple places of publication are also separated by a solidus:
London/Weimar
- Abbreviations are reproduced according to Der Neue Pauly, Thesaurus Linguae Latinae or The Oxford Classical Dictionary.
- Please use the same abbreviation throughout for an antique work:
Plin. nat.
not: Plin. Nat., Plin. n.h., Plin. N.H
- When citing ancient works, always use Arabic numeration instead of Roman:
Hdt. 4.117.1
not: Hdt. IV.117.1
- Please do not use hyperlinks.
- The short title is given as follows: SURNAME: Title year, page number:
