List of abbreviations

  • A list of abbreviations is useful if a volume contains many abbreviations (e.g. of institutions, associations, unknown political parties) that are not familiar even to experts.
  • Common abbreviations are not included in the list of abbreviations.
  • The list of abbreviations can either be placed at the front directly after the table of contents or as the first list at the back of the volume.
  • It is usually organised in two columns.

Bibliography

  • In monographs, the bibliography should be placed at the end of the volume, before the index.
  • In the case of edited volumes, bibliographies should be placed at the end of each contribution (before the affiliation, if applicable) so that all references can be traced at article level. We do no longer recommend merged bibliographies.
  • Please note that for some of our series, the citation style is specified by the series editors.
