Paul Dietschy


About

Born in 1964 in Paris, Paul Dietschy is professor of contemporary history and director of the Lucien Febvre Centre at the University of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (Besançon). He is a former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, and holds an agrégation in history. He defended his doctoral thesis in contemporary history in 1997 on the topic of “Football and society in Turin 1920-1960” at the University Lumière-Lyon II, then his habilitation to conduct researches in 2013 on the subject of “Le grand match. Le sport français entre paix et guerre (1914-1920)” at the Institut d’Étude Politique de Paris. He is a specialist in the history of sport in general, football in particular from a political, cultural and global perspective, and Italy.
